Fiber Artists

About the Art:
A wounded warrior's desire for serenity, contentment, harmony and joy. It is an exploration of the extremes: light and dark, hot and cold, wild and tame, finished and incomplete. As Teresa wore it in public her social anxiety; one of the many injuries that surfaced after war, relaxed. “I feel like a warrior . . . that, I am.”

The Inspiration:
A 1970’s African leopard fur purse given to her Mother by her Grandfather. The “Canvas”: Her Grandfather’s vintage Minnesota Woolen Mills, Inc. yellow wool blanket given to her by her Father. Collar: Vintage raccoon from Antiques and Artisans, Julesburg, Shells and Buttons: In flight as doves.

About the Artist:  May what these hands make please you. Through personal loss I found fiber art. All these things I am, wife, mother, sister, friend to many, Army veteran, former nurse, soldier always, a spinner/maker of yarn, a military trauma survivor, but the one thing that describes me most... I am Jane's daughter. Texture, coloring, fiber qualities symbolize life's meaning in my art. It starts with a song, photos, or a poem that touches me. Dreams bring images of what I must make. I create, so not to forget those before me.

Artist’s Experience:  I am so overwhelmingly humbled and grateful for the opportunity to share my artwork with others. Uniting US has created a culture and environment to share, connect, and gain new perspectives on life through the arts.
